WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 104)
Leader: Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great. You are clothed with honor and majesty,
PEOPLE: wrapped in light as with a garment. You stretch out the heavens like a tent;
Leader: you set the beams of your chambers on the waters; you make the clouds your chariot; you ride on the wings of the wind;
PEOPLE: you make the winds your messengers, fire and flame your ministers.
Leader: O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
PEOPLE: Praise the LORD!
INVOCATION
Dearest Lord, we gather to worship you on lands that were taken from those who had lived on them and cherished them as part of their own lives for generations. They called themselves the Lenape, which in their language means ‘the humans.’ We have not only taken their lands, we have not taken care of them, and we ask for opportunity to right our wrongs first by learning of them and asking forgiveness, in the knowledge that we are all your children, from that time to time forever. Amen
**OPENING HYMN “O Splendor of God’s Glory Bright” Red # 27
CALL TO CONFESSION
We have been given the care of a fragile earth and sea but we have neglected them, using them for our own selfishness instead of for God’s glory our celebration of all creation. Let us come together in prayer:
PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING
Holy God, hear our prayer: For the mending of our hearts, torn apart by our unkindness. For the healing of our souls, wasting away around us; For the courage to choke out our fears. We pray for the courage to admit our faults, The strength to change our ways of abusing nature and the creation around us, amid the hope that your grace awaits us. Through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
(a moment for silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
Our paths are not easy. Our paths are not straight. Help us to walk them in the footsteps of Jesus and the message of love and grace. Amen.
**PASSING OF THE PEACE
**AFFIRMATION OF FAITH – (Adapted from the Cherokee)
I believe in the Creator of our people and our language, the one we call U-net-lan-hee Who gifted us with ancient streams and new forests, with creatures who run and birds who fly.
I believe in Jesus Christ, our relative, who said he would always be with us. I believe in Jesus Christ who knew the pain of our people who were forced from their homeland as they walked the lonely trail of tears. I believe in Jesus Christ who promised us eternity with him.
I believe in the Great Spirit who touches us with the flame of belief to witness to the people and to the world. I believe in the Holy Spirit as our guide who leads us on the journey to new life and to live with our spirits in lives to come.
A Ho.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
Almighty God, in you are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Open our eyes that we may see the wonders of your Word; and give us grace that we may clearly understand and freely choose the way of your wisdom; through Christ our Lord, Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS
It is right to share our abundance with those who have less or need more. May what we offer here help to be the answer of the prayers of others in the name of Jesus, Amen.
