WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 95)
LEADER: O come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our
salvation!
PEOPLE: For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
LEADER: In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his
also.
PEOPLE: The sea is his, for he made it, and the dry land, which his hands have
formed.
LEADER: O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the LORD, our
Maker!
PEOPLE: For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep
of his hand.
INVOCATION
We gather together to praise and to worship God. We can feel the presence of the
Holy Spirit with us as we celebrate the Glory of God.
**OPENING HYMN “God of Grace and God of Glory” Red #669
CALL TO CONFESSION
It is central to our beliefs that we acknowledge and confess our sins. We come to the
Lord to ask for understanding.
PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING
Lord, we look at the world and see sin at every turning and it feels overwhelming. We struggle to accept the role that we have in making the world a more just and peaceful place. We ask for your help to engage with the world rather than sit on the side. Strengthen us to do your work even when we are fearful. Help us to find our place in your great plan.
(A moment for silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
We are all sinners, but the gift of the Lord guarantees that we have salvation. Praise
God and all of his gifts.
**GLORIA PATRI Avery & Marsh (Back of the Red hymnal)
**HYMN OF PRAISE “The Old Rugged Cross” Red #484
**PASSING OF THE PEACE
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from the Apostles’ Creed)
I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus
Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the
Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He
descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended
into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty. From
thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy
Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of
sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
God, we thank you for the wisdom that comes from understanding your word. Let us
hear the word with clear hearts.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their
own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who
taught us to pray, saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our
debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS
Let us return to God the offerings of our life and the gifts of the earth. May our gifts be
a blessing to those who receive them. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
OFFERTORY “Take My Life and Let it Be Consecrated” Red #568
DOXOLOGY Avery & Marsh (Back of the Red hymnal)
PRAYER OF THANKS
We thank you, our Lord for those gifts to us that we send to you for your work and ours
in congregation, community, and culture. Guide us in good use as we ask in Jesus’
name. Amen.
