CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 78)
LEADER: Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
PEOPLE: I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old,
LEADER: We will not hide them from their children; we will tell to the coming
generation
PEOPLE: The glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.
LEADER: In the sight of their ancestors he worked marvels in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan.
PEOPLE: He made streams come out of the rock, and caused waters to flow
down like rivers.
INVOCATION
Jesus assures us that where two or more are gathered in his name, he will be there. Let the Lord join with us today as we worship and praise.

CALL TO CONFESSION
All of our sins can be brought before the Lord, who will forgive us and assure our salvation if we ask.
PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING
Lord, we know you are a God of justice, but also a God of unending love. When we come to you with our sins, we can be sure that you will offer us your grace. When we fear your judgment and wrath, we can be sure that your plan includes reconciliation and redemption for all of us. We know that we can do better and be better, in our relationship with you and in our relationships with each other. Help us to love as you love us.

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
As Paul tells the Ephesians, the gift of God is our assurance of salvation through faith. We are all loved by God and we are all offered salvation.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from the Book of Common Worship)
This is the good news which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved, if we hold it fast: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day, and that he appeared first to the women, then to Peter, and to the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus Christ is the first and the last, the beginning and the end; he is our Lord and our God. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray, saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our
debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
