WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 78)

LEADER: Give ear, O my people, to my teaching

PEOPLE: I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old,

LEADER: We will not hide them from their children; we will tell to the coming

generation

PEOPLE: The glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.

LEADER: He established a decree in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel,

PEOPLE: Which he commanded o

ur ancestors to teach to their children.

INVOCATION

We feel the Spirit of the Lord with us today. May the Lord bless us and protect us as we worship today and throughout all of our days.

**OPENING HYMN                “For All the Saints”                                     Red #751

CALL TO CONFESSION

We may feel alone and separate from God, but we are all parts of the same body of Christ. We can find strength and encouragement from each other as we confess to the Lord.

PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING

Merciful and loving God, we confess a simple truth, we are sinners. We know that we come short of your desires and we do not live in ways that show our love for you and for each other. Even when we try our best, we do not live up to your example. So we ask for your patience, your love, and your help. You know well that all humans are flawed and can never live perfect lives. Be with us as we struggle. Be with us and help us to get up and try again after we fall. Extend your love to all and reassure us that through you we will find redemption.

(A moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

In this season of thanks, we are most thankful for the gift of salvation. Our sins do not define us, and the Lord will forgive all those who ask.

*PASSING OF THE PEACE

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from A Brief Statement of Faith)

In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus

Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God. We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

The words of Scripture provide us with the wisdom of Christ. We ask, Lord, that you help us hear and understand your word so that we might live as one with you.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our

debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

Let us return to God the offerings of our life and the gifts of the earth. May our gifts be a blessing to those who receive them. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
