PRELUDE John Coates
WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 65)
LEADER: Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion; and to you shall vows be performed,
PEOPLE: O you who answer prayer! To you all flesh shall come.
LEADER: When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us, you forgive our transgressions.
PEOPLE: Happy are those whom you choose and bring near to live in your courts.
LEADER: We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, your holy temple.
ALL: O God of our salvation; you are the hope of all the ends of the earth!
INVOCATION
We look unto the hills, from whence shall come our help? Our help comes from the Lord
who made the heavens and the earth, the Creator and the Redeemer of humankind!
**OPENING HYMN “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!” Red #2
CALL TO CONFESSION
Thanks to our Lord Jesus, we can boldly approach the throne of God and ask for
forgiveness. God hears our prayer and forgives us when we pray from the heart.
PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING
We are your people. Lord, hear; Lord, forgive; Lord, do. Hear what we speak not;
forgive what we speak amiss; do what we leave undone; that not according to our
words, or our deeds, but according to your mercy and truth, all may work for your
glory, the good of your kingdom, and the coming of the New Heaven and New
Earth, through Jesus Christ. Amen.
(A moment for silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
Jesus died and rose again from the dead, the first of many to come. Therefore, we may
claim him as our savior and the one who speaks to our soul, “You are forgiven!”
**GLORIA PATRI Avery & Marsh (Back of the Red hymnal)
PASSING OF THE PEACE

**AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (adapted from the Nicene Creed)
We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all
things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
begotten from the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light,
begotten, not made. Through him all things were made. For us and for our
salvation he came down from heaven; and was made human. He was crucified
for us; he suffered and was buried. The third day he rose again. He ascended to
heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again with
glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will never end.
HYMN OF PRAISE “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing” Red #45
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
Holy Spirit, thank you for opening our hearts and minds to the Word. Give us wisdom
and understanding of discipleship as it relates to the One who says, “Follow me.”

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE CHURCH
And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their
own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who
taught us to pray, saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS:
Let us return to God the offerings of our life and the gifts of the earth. May our gifts be a blessing to those who receive them. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
