INVOCATION

Lord, as we come together to worship and celebrate communion, we ask you to fill this place with your Spirit so that we might feel your endless love.

**OPENING HYMN      “Now Thank We All Our God”                             Red #374

CALL TO CONFESSION

Our weaknesses and our shame lead us to sin. We carry these sins with us until we struggle to keep going. The Lord offers us a way to relieve ourselves of our sins.

PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING

Merciful God, we come to you with hearts full of shame for our sins. We choose to hide behind our tribal alliances rather than being open to truly know and understand each other. We search for ways to glorify ourselves rather than working to lift up others. We sit idly and wait for others to fix the problems we see in our communities.

Help us to find the courage and the energy to put your love into action. Help us to use all of our gifts to heal our world and glorify you.

(A moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

In this season of thanks, we can give thanks to God for the gift of redemption. No

matter how we fall short, we can come to God and be assured of forgiveness.

**GLORIA PATRI          “Glory Be to the Father”                                      Red# 805

**HYMN OF PRAISE   “O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee”                     Red #651

*PASSING OF THE PEACE

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from A Brief Statement of Faith)

In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus

Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God. We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

We ask you, Lord, for your help to understand the Word and your strength to allow us to live according to your will. May we all find wisdom from the scriptures.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our

debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
