WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 119)
LEADER: You are righteous, O LORD, and your judgments are right.
PEOPLE: You have appointed your decrees in righteousness and in all faithfulness.
LEADER: My zeal consumes me because my foes forget your words.
PEOPLE: Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your law is the truth.
LEADER: Trouble and anguish have come upon me, but your commandments are my
delight.
PEOPLE: Your decrees are righteous forever; give me understanding that I may
live.
INVOCATION
We come together in the faith that God will be with us. Lord, bless us as we worship
here today. Amen.
**OPENING HYMN “How Firm a Foundation” Red #612
CALL TO CONFESSION
There are none among us who are free from sin. We come to God asking for his
understanding of our faults.
PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING
Lord, we ask for your understanding and forgiveness. We know that we should
be one body in Christ, but we still try to separate and divide. We know that you
came to save everyone, and yet we continue to look down on others. Help us to
break through the barriers we establish and see everyone as your children.
(A moment for silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
We are all sitting in the tree with Zacchaeus, hoping to see the Lord. Know that God
sees you and will welcome you into his kingdom without hesitation.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE CHURCH
And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their
own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who
taught us to pray, saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

**PASSING OF THE PEACE
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from the Apostles’ Creed)
I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus
Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the
Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He
descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended
into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty. From
thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy
Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of
sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
