WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 8)

LEADER: O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

PEOPLE: Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger.

LEADER: When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established;

PEOPLE: What are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?

LEADER: You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet,

PEOPLE: O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

INVOCATION

Lord, as we gather here today to worship and praise, we ask that you fill our hearts with the Holy Spirit so that we might live more like your Son, Jesus.

**OPENING HYMN                “All Creatures of Our God and King”        Red #356

CALL TO CONFESSION

Confession is not a one-time event. It is a practice, allowing us to bring our sins to God so that they can be forgiven and we can be redeemed.

PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING

Mighty God, we come to you with heads bowed. We are ashamed of our sins

and scared to bring them to your feet. We know that we have passed by the

suffering. Ignored the sick and injured. Turned away from the afflicted. We say we don’t have time. We don’t have money. We don’t have the expertise to help. Guide us to serve and sacrifice so that we can serve the common good. Help us to live as you have taught us.

(A moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Redemption and salvation are available to all believers. There is no need to fear for our futures. God has promised us that we will have eternal life.

**GLORIA PATRI                    Avery & Marsh (Back of Red Hymnal)

**HYMN OF PRAISE             “Morning Has Broken”                               Red #362

**PASSING OF THE PEACE

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from the Book of Common Worship)

This is the good news which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved, if we hold it fast: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day, and that he appeared first to the women, then to Peter, and to the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus Christ is the first and the last, the beginning and the end; he is our Lord and our God. Amen.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

The Scriptures offer insight into God and our lives. Let us hear the Word and receive the wisdom of its teachings.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our

debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

Let us return to God the offerings of our life and the gifts of the earth. May our gifts be a blessing to those who receive them. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
