WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP  (Adapted from Psalm 119)

Leader:  With my whole heart I seek you; do not let me stray from your commandments.

PEOPLE: I treasure your word in my heart, so that I may not sin against you.

Leader: With my lips I declare all the ordinances of your mouth.

PEOPLE:  I delight in the way of your decrees as much as in all riches.

Leader:  I will meditate on your precepts, and fix my eyes on your ways.

PEOPLE: I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.

INVOCATION

God of Promise, God of spring, God of all creation, we come to worship you in scripture, song, and prayer.  We rejoice in the joy of new life and in the preservations of our own.  We seek to deepen our faith in understanding of your pathways of love and grace even as we witness the majesty of your creation in the surrounding world and throughout the farthest reaches of the universe.  By the grace of Jesus, Amen.

**OPENING HYMN         “Breathe on Me, Breath of God”                             Red #295

CALL TO CONFESSION

Even though we often fail ourselves and each other, our God never fails us.  Let each of us draw closer to him as we pray together.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of Mercy, we do confess that we are often more likely to  share your Word among ourselves and with those most like us than in obeying the great commission to spread your Gospel throughout the world. Forgive us our timidity and our prejudices.  Lead us by your Holy Spirit to bring the joy we have found in you to the world around us. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen

(moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Our Creator knows each of us better than we know ourselves and continues to reach to us through unending love; and thus, by the grace of Jesus, we are forgiven. Amen.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The Holy catholic Church, the Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body, And the Life everlasting.  Amen

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Calm us now, O Lord, into a quietness that heals and listens. Open wounded hearts to the balm of your Word. Speak to us in clear tones so that we might feel our spirits leap for joy and skip with hope as your resurrection witnesses. Amen

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

May what we offer here be of our own hearts and dedicated to the service of our faith and our mission to others as they become the blessings and hope that others need and pray for in their own lives. This we pray in the name of Jesus.  Amen
