WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 33)

LEADER: Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous. Praise befits the upright.

PEOPLE: Praise the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings.

LEADER: Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

PEOPLE: For the word of the LORD is upright, and all his work is done in

faithfulness.

LEADER: He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the LORD.

PEOPLE: Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage.

INVOCATION

Lord, you promised to bless all the families of the earth. We ask you to join us here with your Holy Spirit so that we might feel that blessing in our hearts and minds.

**OPENING HYMN                “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”             Red #77

CALL TO CONFESSION

We gather strength and understanding by confessing our sins as one body. We are all sinners, and we are all children of the same God.

PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING

Merciful Lord, we come to you to ask forgiveness for all of our sins. We

acknowledge that through your Word, we can be redeemed, yet we also know that it is human nature to continue to fall short. Help us to not only lead lives more closely aligned to your teachings, but also to find comfort in unburdening ourselves of our sins by offering them to you. Let us trust in you to lead us towards the paths of righteousness.

(A moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

The scriptures say that Jesus was raised for our justification. All of our sins have been forgiven, and we can be assured of our redemption.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our

debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

**PASSING OF THE PEACE

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from the Apostles’ Creed)

I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

Let us return to God the offerings of our life and the gifts of the earth. May our gifts be a blessing to those who receive them. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
