WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 42)
Leader: As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God.
PEOPLE: My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God?
Leader: My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me continually, “Where is your God?”
PEOPLE: These things I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I went with the throng and led them in procession to the house of God, with glad shouts and songs of thanksgiving.
Leader: Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my help
PEOPLE: and my God. My soul is cast down within me; therefore I remember you from the land of Jordan and of Hermon.
Leader: Deep calls to deep at the thunder of your cataracts; all your waves and your billows have gone over me.
PEOPLE: By day the LORD commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.
INVOCATION
Creator God, enter with us in Holy worship as we come to sit at your feet, as we seek to know even a part of that grace you offer each of us, and as we struggle to find the understanding that is your central core and to bring just a bit of it into our own lives. Amen.
**OPENING HYMN “We Are Called to be God’s People” Red #710
CALL TO CONFESSION
We are always reconciled by the loving arms of Jesus, who accepts us always as we are. Let us accept others in that same manner as we pray together.
PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING
Creator God, we who struggle with identities, labels and titles in an ever more complex world humbly come to you in search of tolerance and understanding for the simplest differences between each of us even as we pray for all visions of differences to disappear so that we may remain as your children, united in your love for us and our faith in you. Touch us with your grace and your Spirit, so that our works may reflect your presence in our lives. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
(A moment for silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
From the abundance of God’s own righteousness, infinite love and understanding we are forgiven, in the name of Christ our Savior, Amen
**GLORIA PATRI (Avery & Marsh, back cover of the Red Hymnal)
**PASSING OF THE PEACE
**AFFIRMATION OF FAITH - APOSTLES CREED (adapted for Pride month)
I believe in God, Creator of our unique spirits and outlooks,
Who gifted us the identity as a distinct people through our Pride, our differences and yet the similarities that all God’s children share, so that through our own lives we can relay God’s love to our people who could not be understood by others.
I believe in Jesus Christ, our relative, who talked of us when he said, “I have other sheep out there, besides those I have here.” I believe in Jesus Christ who knew the pain of all people who were forced into discomfort and had no place to lay their head. I believe in Jesus Christ who does not say “goodbye” in any language but says “I am with you to the end.”
I believe in the Holy Spirit as tongues of Pentecost fire lighting upon our people to witness to their own people and to the world. I believe in the Holy Spirit as our guide and the driving force for our unique people to do a new thing as we walk a new journey, toward better lives for all humankind.
**HYMN OF PRAISE “In Christ There Is No East or West” Red #695
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
God, source of all light, by your Word you give light to the soul. Pour out on us the spirit of wisdom and understanding that our hearts and minds may be opened. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE CHURCH
And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS:
Let us all consider what we have been blessed with and how we can best share it with those in

greater need, even as we gift our church for its greater work to the Glory of God and the undying love of Jesus. Amen.
