PRELUDE Mary Lee Farris, Organ
WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 8)
Leader: O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
PEOPLE: Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger.
Leader: When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established;
PEOPLE: what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?
Leader: You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet,
PEOPLE: all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
Leader: O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
INVOCATION
Great Spirit God, who never leaves us helpless or hopeless for long, inspire us with your life-giving divine presence. Like those first disciples, may we be moved from being mere followers of Christ to becoming true apostles of his message in mission for our world. In his name we pray,
Amen.
**OPENING HYMN “Come, Thou Almighty King” Red #5
CALL TO CONFESSION
Help fill us with a sense of God’s saving presence, that our daily lives may reflect our rebirth from heaven above and help lead others to our God. Help us to discover the essence of the Trinity and how it shapes our lives in spirit. Let us pray together.
PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING
Most blessed God, we confess that we often turn our faith into a fixed set of creeds and
confessions, easily uttered but far removed from life. Forgive us, we pray. Help us to see such doctrines not as objective statements of truth about a far-off reality, but as a declaration of our intimacy with you and Christ by the works of your Spirit. Bring us to a closer understanding of your creation and our place within it. In Jesus name we pray.
(A moment for silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
The mysteries of the Trinity sometimes evade our understanding, but God’s forgiveness is always understood and welcomed. In the name of Jesus, we are forgiven.

**PASSING OF THE PEACE
**AFFIRMATION OF FAITH - APOSTLES CREED (adapted for Pride month)
I believe in God, Creator of our unique spirits and outlooks,
Who gifted us the identity as a distinct people through our Pride, our differences and yet the similarities that all God’s children share, so that through our own lives we can relay God’s love to our people who could not be understood by others.
I believe in Jesus Christ, our relative, who talked of us when he said,
“I have other sheep out there, besides those I have here.” I believe in Jesus Christ who knew the pain of all people who were forced into discomfort and had no place to lay their head. I believe in Jesus Christ who does not say “goodbye” in any language but says “I am with you to the end.”
I believe in the Holy Spirit as tongues of Pentecost fire lighting upon our people to witness to their own people and to the world. I believe in the Holy Spirit as our guide and the driving force for our unique people to do a new thing as we walk a new journey, toward better lives for all humankind.
**HYMN OF PRAISE “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!” ” Red #2
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
Gracious God, as we turn to your Word for us, may the Spirit of God rest upon us. Help us to be steadfast in our hearing, in our speaking, in our believing, and in our living. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE CHURCH
And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS:
Let us all consider what we have been blessed with and how we can best share it with those in

greater need, even as we gift our church for its greater work to the Glory of God and the undying love of Jesus. Amen.
