WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP (adapted from Psalm 48)
Leader: Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God. His holy mountain,
PEOPLE: beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King.
Leader: Within its citadels God has shown himself a sure defense.
PEOPLE: As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, which God establishes forever.
Leader: We ponder your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple.
PEOPLE: Your name, O God, like your praise, reaches to the ends of the earth.
Leader: Let Mount Zion be glad, let the towns of Judah rejoice because of your judgments.
PEOPLE: Walk about Zion, go all around it, count its towers,
Leader: consider well its ramparts; go through its citadels, that you may tell the next generation
PEOPLE: that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will be our guide forever.
INVOCATION
We are in awe of your magnificent power displayed through the entire universe, for through you all things were made, and all things have their being. Lord, may we know the presence of the Holy Spirit here with us today. May we be open to your speaking and alert to your calling. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
**OPENING HYMN “Faith of Our Fathers” Red #692
CALL TO CONFESSION
Even in the sunlight of summer, we continue to stumble through the darkness of our transgressions. Let us come together as we seek a greater understanding of our Lord and Creation.
PRAYER OF UNDERSTANDING
Gracious Creator, your light is always there before us, even as we look up to its inspiring flame, just as we look each day to a new sun. Grant us the peace to know our shortcomings even as you forgive them. And may we continue to look to the light of your perfect love, even as we know you will deliver us brighter days to come, just as the summer sun lights our joy in your love and grace. Amen.
(a moment for silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
God is gracious. God is understanding. God is wise. God is forgiving. In all these we are grateful. By the grace of Jesus, Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Gracious God, keep in our hearts all those whose names you already know and who ask for healing in their own quiet ways, let us pray together as our redeemer taught us, saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
