PRELUDE                       From Heaven on High - Max Reger (1873-1916)        John Coates

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 15)

LEADER: O LORD, who may abide in your tent? Who may dwell on your holy hill?

PEOPLE: Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right, and speak the truth

from their heart;

LEADER: Who do not slander with their tongue, and do no evil to their friends, nor take

up a reproach against their neighbors;

PEOPLE: In whose eyes the wicked are despised, but who honor those who fear

the LORD;

LEADER: Who do not lend money at interest, and do not take a bribe against the

innocent.

PEOPLE: Those who do these things shall never be moved.

INVOCATION

We gather together here in this space to praise and glorify the Lord. We ask for his

blessing on our worship.

**OPENING HYMN         “God of Grace and God of Glory”                           Red #669

CALL TO CONFESSION

We are all guilty of failing to live as God has commanded. We come to God to ask for

forgiveness and grace.

PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING

We come to you, Lord, certain that we have sinned. We try to live as you have asked, but we fall short. We are more concerned with earthly status and wealth than with the well-being of your children. We divide rather than unite. We hoard rather than share. Help us to cast aside our selfish nature and fully live the Gospel.

(A moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

The Grace of God is unending and flows freely to all. Those who ask for forgiveness

shall be blessed.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Bless these readings that we may more fully understand your will, Lord.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE, THE CHURCH & THE LORD’S PRAYER

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their

own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who

taught us to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

**PASSING OF THE PEACE

**AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from the Apostles’ Creed)

I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus

Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the

Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He

descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended

into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty. From

thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy

Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of

sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

Let us return to God the offerings of our life and the gifts of the earth. May our gifts be

a blessing to those who receive them. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

name. Amen.
