WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 33)
Leader: Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage.
PEOPLE: The LORD looks down from heaven; he sees all humankind.
Leader: From where he sits enthroned he watches all the inhabitants of the earth--
PEOPLE: he who fashions the hearts of them all, and observes all their deeds.
Leader: Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and shield.
PEOPLE: Our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name.
Leader: Truly the eye of the LORD is on those who hope in his steadfast love,
PEOPLE: Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.
INVOCATION
God of all Creation, who shapes the mountains and sets the course of streams, we are
once again in awe of your power and majesty, in our wonder of the world, the beauty of
the season, and the love and grace you show us every day, if we should only seek it
out. Amen.
**OPENING HYMN “How Firm a Foundation” Red #612
CALL TO CONFESSION
In the hectic pace of our lives, we sometimes lose sight of what is truly important in the
sight of God. Help bring us to that place of trying to know and understand.
PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING
Gracious God, we admit it: We tend towards addressing easy decisions and focus on petty issues in most of what we do, and sometimes even in the church. We cling to our wants without graciousness or care for others. We do this despite knowing that we have our priorities misplaced. Lord, help us to focus on understanding your vision of what is most significant, for us, and for our world. Amen.
(A moment for silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
Our God is as merciful as she is generous. As we seek a greater understanding, we are
as always, both blessed and forgiven.
**GLORIA PATRI Traditional Red #805
**HYMN OF PRAISE “Great is Thy Faithfulness” Red #60
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
Since we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from your mouth, make us hunger for this heavenly food, that it may nourish us today in the ways of eternal life; through Jesus Christ, the bread of heaven. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE & THE LORD’S PRAYER
And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

**PASSING OF THE PEACE
**AFFIRMATION OF FAITH - (adapted by John Redman)
I Believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was born of a young peasant woman, trained as a carpenter, and baptized by His cousin John. He taught many, He healed many, and He angered many. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He defeated death and He offers us grace and love in the name of God the Father Almighty; from that time through all time to come. I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit; the universal Church of Christ; the Communion of sharing our gifts with others; the forgiveness of our sins; the Grace of God’s love, and that each soul may have life everlasting. Amen.
OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS:
With joy, we bring our gifts. With joy, we offer our lives. May the offering of our gifts and our very selves bring joy throughout the world. Amen
