WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 149)

LEADER: Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the faithful.

PEOPLE: Let Israel be glad in its Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.

LEADER: Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre.

PEOPLE: For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with victory.

LEADER: Let the faithful exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their couches.

PEOPLE: This is glory for all his faithful ones.

INVOCATION

Dear God we come together today in your house to worship your creation. Help us to see your vision for the world and live according to that vision. Amen.

**OPENING HYMN                “Ye Servants of God, Your Master”           Red #103

CALL TO CONFESSION

We are all equal in need in the eyes of God. We are all equal in ability to do God’s will. We are all equally sinners asking for God’s forgiveness.

PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING

God we ask for your forgiveness. We too often take for granted the blessings of our life and your creation. We forget to offer praise to you for all you have given us. We turn away from the sick, but then ask for your healing. We dismiss the strangers in our midst, but then ask for your shelter. We seek your understanding of our faults and your help in doing better. Help us to see each other and help each other as you taught us.

(A moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Even at our most despised and dejected, God sees you as fully human. No matter your illness or sin, Jesus offers his healing and love.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

The word of God is the revelation of truth. Bless the reading of these words so that we may come to a greater understanding of truth and love and justice. Let these words sit with us and provide wisdom now and for all of our days. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our

debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

**PASSING OF THE PEACE

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from the Apostles’ Creed)

I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

Let us return to God the offerings of our life and the gifts of the earth. May our gifts be a blessing to those who receive them. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
