WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 37)

Leader: Trust in the LORD, and do good; so you will live in the land, and enjoy security. PEOPLE: Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Leader: Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. PEOPLE: He will make your vindication shine like the light, and the justice of your cause like the noonday. Leader: Be still before the LORD, and wait patiently for him; do not fret over those who prosper in their way, PEOPLE: Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath. Do not fret--it leads only to evil. Leader: For the wicked shall be cut off,

PEOPLE: but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land.

ALL: Praise the Lord!

INVOCATION

Creator God, you call us to love and serve you with body, mind, and spirit through loving your creation and our sisters and brothers. Open our hearts in compassion and receive these petitions on behalf of the needs of the church and the world. This we pray in Jesus name, Amen.

CALL TO CONFESSION

Our lives are sometimes marked by struggles and failures. At other times our success overtakes us, and we forget from where we come. Let us approach our God together.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Precious Lord, hear our prayer. We have lived for ourselves, and apart from you. We have ignored the pain of the world, and passed by the hungry, the poor, and the oppressed. In your great mercy forgive our sins and free us from selfishness, that we may choose your will and obey your commandments, through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen. (a moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

In mercy, our Lord is unsurpassed. In forgiveness, our Lord is unequaled. In understanding there is no limit. By the wisdom of our Lord, we are forgiven.

**HYMN OF PRAISE “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” Red #60

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Since we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from your mouth, make us hunger for this heavenly food, that it may nourish us today in the ways of eternal life; through Jesus Christ, the bread of heaven. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE & THE LORD’S PRAYER

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

**AFFIRMATION OF FAITH, APOSTLES CREED (Traditional)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The Holy catholic Church, the Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body, And the Life everlasting. Amen.

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

We can hoard the gifts with which you bless us, God of generosity, or we can share them with others. May what we offer in these moments be the very blessing, the very hope, the very peace others need. This we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
