PRELUDE ”Organ Prelude” Mary Lee Farris, Organ

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from The Wisdom of Solomon, Chapter 6)

Leader: Wisdom is radiant and unfading, and she is easily discerned by those who love her, and is found by those who seek her.

PEOPLE: She hastens to make herself known to those who desire her.

Leader: One who rises early to seek her will have no difficulty, for she will be found sitting at the gate.

PEOPLE: To fix one’s thought on her is perfect understanding, and one who is vigilant on her account will soon be free from care.

Leader: The beginning of wisdom is the most sincere desire for instruction, and concern for

instruction is love of her,

PEOPLE: and love of her is the keeping of her laws, and giving heed to her laws is

assurance of immortality,

Leader: and immortality brings one near to God;

PEOPLE: so the desire for wisdom leads to a kingdom.

INVOCATION

God of all, we come before you today to worship your message of love and grace to all creation. We ask you to open our hearts and minds to your word, and to be mindful of those who are not here today but are with us in spirit as we pray in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

**OPENING HYMN: “Spirit of the Living God” Red #297

CALL TO CONFESSION

We struggle in our lives, in our thoughts, and in our hearts. Let us come to God to relieve

ourselves of our doubts, and our failings as we reach a new closer understanding of the

awesome power and love our Creator. Let us pray together.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Gracious Lord, we come to you as your children knowing that we follow a broken pathway.

Show us the true path of faith that we can walk with you in this life and all of our lives to come. We thank you for the blessings we receive from you, as manna was given to those

who wandered in the wilderness, and we are grateful for the message of your unfailing love through Jesus. Amen

(a moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Hear the genuine Good News of the Gospels and know that through God’s infinite love we are always forgiven. In his name, Amen.

**AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (APOSTLES CREED Traditional)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The Holy catholic Church, the Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body, And the Life everlasting.

Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:

LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

We give freely from the bounty we have been given by our Gracious God. May what we offer in these moments help to become the very blessing and hope that others need. This we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

OFFERTORY “God of Mercy Grant us Blessing”

PRAYER OF THANKS

Lord God, we thank you for these gifts. As we follow in faith, may we find ways to honor you by giving of our treasure, our time and our talents to glorify you and our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

**CLOSING HYMN “Go with Us, Lord” Blue #535

RESPONSIVE BENEDICTION

Leader: God sends us into the world,

People: so we may see Jesus at work in all the desolate places.

Leader: As one with compassion, Jesus calls,

People: so we may follow him to those who live on the fringe of life.

Leader: The Spirit opens our ears and our hearts,

People: so we may hear the cries looking for hope.

ALL: AMEN!
