ORDER OF WORSHIP

CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 123

Leader: To you I lift up my eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens! PEOPLE: As the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, until he has mercy upon us. Leader: Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us, for we have had more than enough of contempt. PEOPLE: Our soul has had more than its fill of the scorn of those who are at ease, of the contempt of the proud.

INVOCATION

Father of us all, we gather in your name to celebrate your goodness and grace for all your creations. In the warmth of summer sun, your light shines everywhere, in love for all people, offering the world salvation through Jesus Christ. Amen.

CALL TO CONFESSION

If we confess our sins and bring them unto the Lord, He will forgive us. With honest and humble hearts, let us call to mind the failings that are stored up in us no matter how big or small. Let us pray.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Lord, I am an incomplete being searching far and wide to be made whole. Though I try as hard as I can, I will never find completeness in the worldly things I acquire to fill the void. Help me to get to know you Lord. Fill my heart with the peace that goes beyond my understanding. Call to me, that I may come to you with a repentant heart. Help me to see that your kingdom has come near and that it is You, and only You, whom I’ve been looking for all along. (A moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Sisters and Brothers, believe in the Good News of the Gospels. In the name of our Lord, we are forgiven. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE & THE LORD’S PRAYER

As we come to the prayers of the Church, Holy One, hear our prayers and make us faithful stewards of the fragile bounty of this earth, AND Creator God, you call us to love and serve you with body, mind, and spirit, through loving your creation and our sisters and brothers.

Open our hearts in compassion and receive these petitions on behalf of the needs of the church and the world. We know that you hear the prayers of each soul among us, and we point to those who suffer and grieve through the multitude of maladies that many contend with, or from the mental strain and stress that these times bring, from the pain of addiction to financial uncertainties, we know that you hear us. And dearest Lord, we ask for your healing touch on those we name here before you.

And Gracious God, keep in our hearts all those whose names you already know and who ask for healing in their own quiet ways and methods, and let us come together to pray as our Savior Jesus taught us saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
