WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 107)
Leader: O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever. PEOPLE: Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, those he redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. Leader: Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to an inhabited town; PEOPLE: hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them. Leader: Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress; PEOPLE: he led them by a straight way, until they reached an inhabited town. Leader: Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wonderful works to humankind.
INVOCATION
God, you have given all peoples a common origin. It is your will that they be gathered together as one family in yourself. Fill the hearts of humankind with the fire of your love and with the desire to ensure justice for all. By sharing the good things you give us, may we secure an equality for all our brothers and sisters throughout the world. Amen.
**OPENING HYMN “Be Thou My Vision” Red #532
CALL TO CONFESSION
Our sometimes-feeble attempts to follow in faith show our shortcomings, but we know a merciful God who always forgives us. Please join me in our confession together.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of grace, we are charged to travel light, yet we overburden ourselves with possessions. We are commissioned to preach repentance, yet we ourselves don’t change. We are called to reconcile, yet we create divisions. Help us to feel the unity that Christ’s love brings us each day. In his name, Amen.
(a moment for silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
Christ came among us to forgive and to lead us to a new understanding of our place as the children of God. Let us embrace that love and wonder.
**PASSING OF THE PEACE
**AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Traditional Apostles Creed)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The Holy catholic Church, the Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body, And the Life everlasting. Amen.
**HYMN OF PRAISE “For the Fruit of All Creation” Red #379
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
God, source of all light, by your Word you give light to the soul. Pour out on us the spirit of wisdom and understanding that our hearts and minds may be opened. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE & THE LORD’S PRAYER
And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:
Father of ours, the one in the skies, it must be sanctified, the name of yours.
It must show up, this realm of yours.
It must happen, this desire of yours: as in sky also on earth.
This bread of ours, the existing upon, give us this day.
Also, let go for us those debts of ours, as even we ourselves let go of those debtors of ours.
Also, you might not want to bring us as far as a trial.
Instead, draw us toward Yourself away from this worthless worry.
OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS
Let us all consider what we have been blessed with and how we can best share it with those in greater need, even as we gift our church for its greater work to the Glory of God and the undying love of Jesus.
