WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 89)

Leader: I will sing of your steadfast love, O LORD, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations.

PEOPLE: I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.

Leader: Happy are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O LORD, in the light of your countenance;

PEOPLE: they exult in your name all day long, and extol your righteousness.

Leader: For you are the glory of their strength; by your favor our horn is exalted.

PEOPLE: For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.

INVOCATION

Most Holy Father, your gracious gift in Christ moves us to gather in worship. Stir our hearts once again with your Spirit, that we may find renewed energy to sing your praises and do your work, for our own spiritual needs and those of others. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

**OPENING HYMN: “Stand up and bless the Lord” Red #41

CALL TO CONFESSION

We too often lose sight of the unity and the redemption promised to us through the message of Jesus Christ. Let us be reminded in that as we pray together:

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Forgiving God, we admit that our fragmented, selfish, and sometimes pointless lives mark our forgetfulness of your grace. Jog our memories, dear Lord, reminding us to live the truth of being as one in Christ in all our daily lives. In his name we do pray, Amen.

(a moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Living with us in flesh, Jesus abolished the barriers between heaven and earth, even as we dwell with Christ in the grace of eternal forgiveness. By this we are forgiven.

**HYMN OF PRAISE: “There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy” Red #486

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Calm us now, O Lord, into a quietness that heals and listens. Open wounded hearts to the balm of your Word. Speak to us in clear tones so that we might feel our spirits leap for joy and skip with hope as your resurrection witnesses. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:

LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
