WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (adapted from Psalm 24)

Leader: The earth is the LORD’s and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it;

PEOPLE: for he has founded it on the seas and established it on the rivers.

Leader: Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place?

PEOPLE: Those who have clean hands and pure hearts, who do not lift up their

souls to what is false, and do not swear deceitfully.

Leader: They will receive blessing from the LORD, and vindication from the God of their

salvation.

PEOPLE: Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.

INVOCATION

We thank you, Lord for your gifts of salvation and redemption. The waters of life are for all who thirst and eternal life is for all who believe. Let us welcome our neighbors close and far into your kingdom. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

**OPENING HYMN              “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”                                  Red #45

CALL TO CONFESSION

No matter the words of the Gospels, we still fear others and look to hold earthly power rather than listening to the teachings of Jesus. Let us come together as we seek a greater understanding of our Lord and Creation.

PRAYER OF UNDERSTANDING

God of all people, please help us to see the humanity and divine grace in each one of us. Help us shed our desire for power and dominance and instead help us to understand the power of acceptance. Help us to know that we are one people. Help us to renounce any desire to separate us from one another and from you. Amen.

(a moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

God protects weak. God shelters the wanderer. God feeds the hungry. God forgives everyone. By the grace of Jesus we are forgiven, Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Gracious God, keep in our hearts all those whose names you already know and who ask for healing in their own quiet ways, let us pray together as our redeemer taught us, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

It is right to share our abundance with those who have less or need more. May what we offer here help to be the answer of the prayers of others in the name of Jesus, Amen.
