CLOSING CAROL

“Silent Night“                         Red # 164                              Fred Stelling, Guitar

We will sing the three verses as the candles are lit, one from another. The lights will dim

during the singing and at the end, please blow out your candle and leave it in the bucket at

the rear of the sanctuary as you leave in silence.

Silent Night was first composed in 1818 in a small village near Salzburg, Austria. Part of the chapel’s organ case had been flooded and the priest asked Franz Gruber, the organist what they might do. Gruber responded with a simple melody on his guitar that we have come to know and love as Silent Night.
