Leader: Come brothers and sisters, let us unite in this hour to worship our God.
Many: Our spirits gather through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Leader: In the midst of changes that challenge us and unsettle us.
Many: We turn together to our steadfast God.
Leader: Our God is the same loving presence that our ancestors worshipped, present to us now and forever more.

We thank you Lord for this chance to be united in our faith, knowing that Jesus is among us, blessing us as we seek to follow you and be your faithful people.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION Rev. Cathy Surgenor
Lord, you are eternal, invisible, and creator of all things. We are mortal, vulnerable, and in the midst of dramatic changes. We see and hear distressing things. We ourselves may share in the fear, confusion and turmoil that surround us in this difficult time. We turn to you asking for more faith. You know us. You know our past, our present and our future. You have a plan for our good and not for harm. We ask that you lift our spirits. We pray that you will strengthen us and continue to lead us through these troubled times. Unite our spirits so that we can support each other in carrying out your plans for us, your people here in this congregation that is Union Presbyterian Church. (Please continue to offer your own private prayer in the minute of silence.) Amen.
