WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 86)

LEADER: Incline your ear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.

PEOPLE: Preserve my life, for I am devoted to you; save your servant who trusts in you.

LEADER: You are my God; be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all day long.

PEOPLE: Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

LEADER: There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours.

PEOPLE: All the nations you have made shall come and bow down before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name.

INVOCATION

May the Lord join with us here today as we gather to worship. May the Holy Spirit fill this place and stay with us after this service.

**OPENING HYMN                “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”                      Red #60

CALL TO CONFESSION

The Lord has offered us a path to forgiveness. Believe and confess with an open

heart, and God will offer salvation.

PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING

We pray to you, Lord, for mercy for all of our sins. We are aware of our

shortcomings, and we know that you are also aware. We are proud when we

should be humble. We are angry when we should seek peace. We are jealous when we should open our hearts and love. All of these sins and more we bring to you and ask for your forgiveness. It is through your grace that all are redeemed.

(A moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Even in our most desperate moments, we can be certain that God loves us and that we will be given forgiveness and salvation.

**GLORIA PATRI                    “Glory Be to the Father”                            Red #807

**HYMN OF PRAISE             “Good Christians All, Rejoice”                  Red #255

**PASSING OF THE PEACE

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from the Apostles’ Creed)

I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

We talk to God through prayer, and we listen to God through scripture. Let the words read here fill our hearts and grant us wisdom.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our

debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

Let us return to God the offerings of our life and the gifts of the earth. May our gifts be a blessing to those who receive them. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
