WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 138)

Leader: I give you thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise;

PEOPLE: I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness; for you have exalted your name and your word above everything.

Leader: On the day I called, you answered me, you increased my strength of soul.

PEOPLE: All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O LORD, for they have heard the words of your mouth.

Leader: They shall sing of the ways of the LORD, for great is the glory of the LORD.

PEOPLE: Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; you stretch out your hand, and your right hand delivers me.

Leader: The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me;

PEOPLE: your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever!

INVOCATION

You made us from the very dust that You created. Then You did the most wondrous of all things, you made us in Your image and breathed life into us. We thank you for our lives today and we pray that you continue to sustain us each day. From Your heavenly place accept our prayers and our praise. Amen.

**OPENING HYMN           “Lord, You Give the Great Commission”               Red #715

CALL TO CONFESSION

Losing our way is easy for us. Finding it back is more difficult until we see the pathway our Lord has laid out for us. Let us come closer to God through our prayer for a greater understanding of his love and grace.

PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING

God of compassion, we know that we often do not embody the love of Christ and the power of the Spirit that we should. Grant us a fuller understanding of the power to guide us with your ways. Fill us with your spirit until we want no more. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

(A moment for silent personal confession)

 ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

The peace of Christ has united us in faith and his grace has reconciled us to our creator. And as we dwell with Christ let us receive the forgiveness for our sins.

**PASSING OF THE PEACE

**AFFIRMATION OF FAITH - APOSTLES CREED (an anonymous updating)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of earth and the eternal heavens and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Messiah, who was with the Lord since before creation began and was sent to walk and dwell among us to show us the way of Heavenly Grace and Eternal Life. He suffered at the hands of his fellow Jews and under the Roman decree of Pontius Pilate as he was crucified, died, and buried. He arose at the moment of Resurrection in defeat of death to show the way to our Lord’s forgiveness, the Communion of life’s gifts, the Forgiveness of our shortcomings, and the Pathway to Everlasting Life.

**HYMN OF PRAISE                “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”                 Red #77

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Almighty God, in you are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Open our eyes that we may see the wonders of your Word; and give us grace that we may clearly understand and freely choose the way of your wisdom; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

SERMON MESSAGE:              “As He Taught us to Pray”                            John Redman, CRE

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE CHURCH

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS:

It is right to share our abundance with those who have less or need more. May what we offer here help to be the answer of the prayers of others in the name of Jesus, Amen.
