PRELUDE                       Heaven on High - Max Reger (1873-1916)                  John Coates

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 40)

LEADER: I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry.

PEOPLE: He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my

feet upon a rock

LEADER: He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.

PEOPLE: Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.

LEADER: Happy are those who make the LORD their trust,

PEOPLE: You have multiplied, O LORD my God, your wondrous deeds and your

thoughts toward us; none can compare with you.

INVOCATION

The Lord resides with us no matter where we are. We come together to worship and share the grace the Lord provides.

**OPENING HYMN         “Come, Holy Spirit, Heavenly Dove”                      Red #298

CALL TO CONFESSION

No matter our intentions, we all fall short of the teachings of the Lord. We choose to ask the Lord for understanding and forgiveness.

PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING

We come to you, Lord, aware that we are not living as you have asked. We are scared of losing what makes us comfortable. We are not willing to sacrifice for others. Help us to trust in your word. Help us to know that when it is needed, your care will sustain us. Help us to find peace for ourselves and our communities.

(A moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

We all feel the pains of the world and we all worry about how we fall short of God’s

teachings. Know that if we ask, we will be forgiven for our sins and we will be redeemed.

**PASSING OF THE PEACE

**AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from the Nicene Creed)

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified.

He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We

look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Let us hear the word of the Lord and let that word open our hearts.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE, THE CHURCH & THE LORD’S PRAYER

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their

own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who

taught us to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

Let us return to God the offerings of our life and the gifts of the earth. May our gifts be

a blessing to those who receive them. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
