WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 112)
LEADER: Praise the LORD! Happy are those who fear the LORD, who greatly delight in his commandments.
PEOPLE: Their descendants will be mighty in the land; the generation of the
upright will be blessed.
LEADER: It is well with those who deal generously and lend, who conduct their affairs
with justice.
PEOPLE: For the righteous will never be moved; they will be remembered
forever.
LEADER: They are not afraid of evil tidings; their hearts are firm, secure in the LORD.
PEOPLE: Their hearts are steady, they will not be afraid; in the end they will look
in triumph on their foes.
INVOCATION
Christ said that wherever two or more gather in his name, he will be with them. God,
please be with us as we worship in your name.
**OPENING HYMN “Eternal Father, Strong to Save” Red #358
CALL TO CONFESSION
Since our founding, we have believed that forgiveness comes through confession. Let
us offer our honest confession to God.
PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING
We come to you, Lord, scared of the awesome responsibility you have given us.
We are told to be a light in the darkness, but we too often hide our light out of
fear or shame. We should be like a city on a hill, yet we live without reflecting
your glory. Help us to live full lives in your image. Help us to bring peace and
justice to the world.
(A moment for silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
In times of darkness, we can always find the light of God. Know that God loves you
and forgives all of your sins.
**GLORIA PATRI Red #805
**HYMN OF PRAISE “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” Red #213
**PASSING OF THE PEACE
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from the Nicene Creed)
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
From the scriptures, we can gain inspiration and instruction. Let us hear the word of
God.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE, THE CHURCH & THE LORD’S PRAYER
And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their
own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who
taught us to pray, saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS
Let us return to God the offerings of our life and the gifts of the earth. May our gifts be
a blessing to those who receive them. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
