LEADER: I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the LORD.
PEOPLE: Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to the LORD.
LEADER: This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.
PEOPLE: This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
INVOCATION
Lord, your Son Jesus Christ told us, I am the resurrection and the life. Let your Spirit be with us today as we celebrate the gift you have given us.
**OPENING HYMN “Christ the Lord is Risen Today” Red #234
CALL TO CONFESSION
We are the mob. We are the authorities. We are the soldiers. Lord, we are all guilty of and all deserving of your judgment. We come to you to confess our sins and ask for your mercy.
PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING
Lord, we come to you with a deep sense of gratitude for the gift of your Son. We acknowledge that we are not worthy of your grace, and we thank you for
providing it regardless of our merit. We praise you for the rebirth we see all
around us, both in the natural world and amongst all of humankind. Help us to give the same grace you provide to us to each other. Help us live every day with the joy of Easter.
(A moment for silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
Just as Jesus forgave the criminals being crucified with him, so will he forgive us. His death guarantees our salvation. Christ is risen and we will join him.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray, saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our
debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from the Apostles’ Creed)
I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS
Let us return to God the offerings of our life and the gifts of the earth. May our gifts be a blessing to those who receive them. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
