WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 138)

Leader: I give you thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise; PEOPLE: I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness; for you have exalted your name and your word above everything. Leader: On the day I called, you answered me, you increased my strength of soul. PEOPLE: All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O LORD, for they have heard the words of your mouth. Leader: They shall sing of the ways of the LORD, for great is the glory of the LORD. PEOPLE: Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; you stretch out your hand, and your right hand delivers me. Leader: The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me;

PEOPLE: your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever!

INVOCATION

You made us from the very dust that You created. Then You did the most wondrous of all things, you made us in Your image and breathed life into us. We thank you for our lives today and we pray that you continue to sustain us each day. From Your heavenly place accept our prayers and our praise. Amen.

**OPENING HYMN “Lord, You Give the Great Commission” Red #715

CALL TO CONFESSION

Losing our way is easy for us. Finding it back is more difficult until we see the pathway our Lord has laid out for us. Let us come closer to God through our prayer of confession.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of compassion, we know that we often do not embody the love of Christ and the power of the Spirit that we should. We put up barriers against others and by that, barriers that prevent us from being closer to you. Forgive us our failings and fill us with your spirit until we want no more. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

(a moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

The peace of Christ has united us in faith and his grace has reconciled us to our creator. And as we dwell with Christ let us receive the forgiveness for our sins.

**PASSING OF THE PEACE

**HYMN OF PRAISE “Lord, Listen to Your Children Praying” Red #629

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Almighty God, in you are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Open our eyes that we may see the wonders of your Word; and give us grace that we may clearly understand and freely choose the way of your wisdom; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

SERMON As He Taught Us to Pray John Redman, CRE

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE & THE LORD’S PRAYER

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:

Father of ours, the one in the skies, it must be sanctified, the name of yours.

It must show up, this realm of yours.

It must happen, this desire of yours: as in sky also on earth.

This bread of ours, the existing upon, give us this day.

Also, let go for us those debts of ours, as even we ourselves let go of those debtors of ours.

Also, you might not want to bring us as far as a trial.

Instead, draw us toward Yourself away from this worthless worry.

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

Let us all consider what we have been blessed with and how we can best share it with those in greater need, even as we gift our church for its greater work to the Glory of God and the undying love of Jesus.

PRAYER OF THANKS

We thank you, our Lord for those gifts to us that we send to you for your work and ours in congregation, community, and culture. Guide us in good use as we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
